The Comfiest Jeans

i recently graduated from the high school obsession of hollister jeans! (kind of a few years late ;)) while i did love the fit and longevity of their jeans as i mom i was tired of constantly pulling them up whenever i bent down (because you know, low rise) and you know i'm not a plumber so i don't think i need to be wearing plumber jeans! ;)

i've basically been wearing yoga pants since i had scotti because i still can't fit into any of my jeans pre-baby. and i recently found these high rise jeans from nordstrom, and ordered them without trying them on! i was just praying they would be the right fit. i am super picky with my jeans and can't just purchase any pair that i see. they have to fit the right way + i need good quality.

the second i put these jeans on i fell in love and have been wearing them ever since! ;) they are soft and snug in all the right places. plus they suck in my mom pooch and i love that they are tight and fitting all the way to my ankles. i love that they are flexible enough that i am able to run around and play on the floor with my girls! you need to go grab a pair!

Pinner's Conference & Expo 2016

follow on snap chat: @sarahegg28

have you heard of the Pinner's Conference & Expo? it is two events combined into one amazing show! i know i am not the only one who resorts to pinterest for recipes, DIY, holiday inspiration and especially exercise routines. I have been using Pinterest for many many years, and i love having the app on my phone. i've heard so much about the Pinner's Conference & Expo and finally decided to go this year!! the event was this past weekend at the Salt Palace Convention Center in down town Salt Lake City, and i decided to go all. day. long.

we started off the morning with a class taught by "Momentity's" Nicole Carpenter called Ten Time Tricks to Get Things Done, which as a mom i thought would be very helpful. and i loved her presentation!

then we went on to a "Blow Dry Bootcamp" by Megan Moore aka the Beauty Snoop because who doesn't want to know how to get that perfect blow out to last while in the comfort of your own home! loved her! and her cute pregnant belly! we also attended Maskcara's "5 Minute Make Up" class because my sister and i are obsessed with make up. what girl isn't? we really wanted to purchase her pallet but her line was always insane so i will be sure to order it online! i mean, it makes it so simple + quick to get your face done and i'm all about that as a mom!

my all time favorite class of the day was the "Girl In Progress" by Whippy Cake, she has such an amazing presentation and had all of us in tears. after leaving her class i was motivated to become a better me, a better wife, a better mother and a better person over all.

lastly we attended the "Slay Your Sweet Tooth" because most of us have a problem with our sugar addictions! and we all got a healthy brownie and "nice cream" at the end!!

we did a little browsing around all the cute shops and to our surprise did not spend one penny on merchandise. what? i had such an enjoyable time at the Pinner's Conference and will be sure to be going in the years to come! did you attend? what was your favorite part??

bang bang

"a man's main job is to protect his woman from her desire to 'get bangs' every other month."

bang bang! i saw this quote a few weeks ago and couldn't help but laugh out loud. it relates to my life 100%!! i have had the harsh straight across bangs for almost 7 years now! SEVEN YEARS people. that is a long time for one hair style! but i love it so much!

over the last 2 years i have tried multiple times to just grow them out! and guess what? i failed every time. i could never get passed the awkward stage! and chop chop i had bangs again. when i recently just cut my hair (the shortest it's ever been since i was a young buck!) i decided 'this was it' this was how i would grow out my bangs! and it lasted a couple months.... but i missed them so much! my bangs make me feel like myself, they're me! sarah is not sarah without her Cleopatra hair do! so welcome back you lovely bangs!

if you have ever contemplated getting bangs. just do it. just do it, i dare you! you will fall in love!

The Mom Bubble

this topic is near to my heart, and i feel like all of us go through this as moms to some degree or another. you see, growing up i was always pretty shy until i hit my teenage years and especially after i graduated from high school. i was comfortable with myself and my life, i was social, and i had no problem expressing myself. i had my own style and i was comfortable and confident in what i wore. i was just confident. in fact, so much so that i told people i was hot shit. (no joke)

and then i got pregnant with olive and was basically on bed rest because i was so sick. not officially but i stayed in bed in our tiny apartment, alone my whole pregnancy. and then i had olive and my world completely changed in so many ways. but, i want to focus mainly on The Mom Bubble as i like to call it.

i was completely focused on my little baby, which is how it should be. and gave little time for myself. i slowly stopped hanging out with friends and soon it was just me and olive. every day. all day. until dave came home from work. just imagine for a minute, if you don't have kids, or maybe you moms can relate.... being with babies all day long. 24/7. people get depressed. people get lonely. and mom's become a different person. dave likes to call it "mom mode", i am always in mom mode.

this mom bubble is serious business. don't get me wrong, i LOVE my life. i love my children. i love my husband. i overall am HAPPY with where i am in life. but being in this mom bubble, digging myself deeper and deeper as the days pass. i am not myself anymore. i'm not the sarah that i was before. i barely know myself!

i spend my days, my hours talking to CHILDREN. i am back in my shy bubble, and i honestly am so awkward when i come in contact with adults. hahahaha! it's like i only know how to talk to kids now. i'm sure you have heard of mom guilt too? i want an hour to myself at the end of a long day, but when it comes down to it, i feel guilty for even wanting that time.

but hello, we NEED it!! to be the best mommy's we can be, we can't forget to make time for ourselves. IT'S SO IMPORTANT!!! we need "me time", we need adult time, we need girls nights! when we get sucked into this bubble we lose ourselves, we become depressed and we feel lonely.

and i'm so sad that i let myself fall so deep into my mom bubble, i was saying to dave just the other day that i missed my friends and that i needed to find some mom friends. i feel like in this mom community it's all about PLANNING PLANNING PLANNING! and although i know this is necessary at times- we all have naps + preschool + activities to work around! but i want friends that i can call up and say "hey! i'm coming over!" i don't care if your house is a mess or that you're all in your pajama's still. or "hey! lets go get starbucks, or go to lunch!" i want friends that we can be ourselves around. all this mom judging is ridiculous! trying to impress everyone you encounter is SO EXHAUSTING! i miss having fun and i miss being my happy go lucky self!

so with that being said. the mom bubble is normal, but don't let it trap you like it has myself!! you are all amazing mother's and if you feel like you are lonely,YOU ARE NOT ALONE! we are all there with you! in order to be the best mother you can be, you need to be confident, you need to be strong, be an example for your little people!

so instead of judging how other mom's parent or how clean their house is, how skinny they are or i can't believe she hasn't lost the baby weight yet! or she has cuter clothes than me and she has nicer things. let's all be friends. LIKE, REAL COOL MOMS!!

as mother's we need to be there for each other because we can all relate in so many ways. we can boost each other's confidence, we can be each other's shoulder to cry on, we can be a confidant to each other, we can be crazy with each other. and we don't always have to be in mom mode! because we are cool even as moms, and we are hot shit, and we are strong and brave! we're mom's!!

"successful mother's are not the ones who have never struggled. they are the one's that never give up despite the struggles. -sharon jaynes"

i started a REAL COOL MOMS PLAY GROUP on facebook, it is private just because we all want to protect our families and babies. but i want you all to be apart of it!! so come find me and request to join! let's build this mom community because we are all cool moms!!!!

happy halloween!!

i hope everyone had a happy halloween!!! i know that we really enjoyed ourselves, we had a neighborhood halloween party monday morning and then anxiously waited to put our costumes on + go trick or treating!!

in the years before we would make our rounds to all the grandparents on halloween, but this year we decided that the girls were old enough to go trick or treating around the neighborhood. they seriously had the time of their lives and it makes me so happy!!!!

i totally procrastinated pieces from both girls costumes and luckily we were able to get them at the last minute! this year Scotti girl was a witch, olive was rapunzel, i was a kitty kat and dave was a dry erase board! (which he literally through it together 2 minutes before we went out the door!!) now if only i can keep myself from eating all the halloween candy!! :/

It's What fun is

as i mentioned before, we decided earlier this year to splurge and get lagoon season passes when they had a sale going on. and i can hands down tell you it was well worth the money!! we went countless times + it was fun to just run over and spend a few hours as a family when we didn't have anything else to do!

i have been super impressed with the kiddie section, my girls loovvvveee all the rides and we can't wait until next year when Scotti can go on some of the rides that she couldn't this year! this weekend is the last weekend lagoon is open for the season so we of course had to have one last go! dave and i decided to attempt frightmares a few weekends ago and just walked right back out because the lines were terribly long! so we made sure to get there first thing this morning, the lines weren't too bad and we were able to ride quite a few before the girls were just ready to head home. you know, there is only so much you can handle as a kid! ha! we ate churros and fries and drank lots of sprite! it was a great day with my little family!!!

when i became a mom, i noticed that all of sudden i had very little confidence in my style. i never liked anything that i put on. i felt like i looked ridiculous in my own clothes. i always thought, "mom's don't wear this kind of thing" and in some situations maybe i was right but in most i was just lacking that strong confidence and self esteem that i so desperately need, not only for myself but so my girls see that i am strong and happy in my own body!

over the last three and a half years, i have donated bags and bags of my clothes. getting rid of pieces that i didn't feel comfortable in, things that no longer fit, or clothes that aren't modest. and so now, as you can imagine i am left with sooo many baggy tshirts, sweats, a couple pair of jeans + the other 50% of my closet is lulu lemon. and although i would love to live in lulu the rest of my life sometimes i just want to wear something other than work out attire!

i feel like i am finding my style again, what i love and what i feel confident in. it has been hard i'm not going to lie. but i need to get out of my bubble that i have created. no more sweats and a tshirt, no more leggings and my husbands baggy shirt.

sometimes getting dressed and ready for the day doesn't happen as a mom. but isn't it amazing how much better you feel over all if you simply change out of your sweats and put something decent on? maybe a little bit of make up and brush through your hair??

one of my go to pants that are so soft and comfortable are these joggers from lulu lemon. the material is unreal, i love the fit and they are comfortable without looking like you just rolled out of bed! i usually pair it with a v-neck and some converse and i'm ready to go!

what are your favorite go to looks?? how did you find your mom style?
